CHAPTER XIII. TRAFFICCHAPTER XIII. TRAFFIC\Article 2. Local Traffic Regulations

(a)   There shall be established a twenty (20) miles per hour speed limit on:

       Maple Street between Fourth Street and United States Highway No. 56;

       Devon Street between Second Street and Santa Fe Trail Street;

       Surrey Lane between Second Street and Santa Fe Trail Street;

       Second Street between Devon Street and Surrey Lane; and

       First Street west from Maple Avenue to the official limits and boundaries of the City of Overbrook.

(b)   There shall be established a thirty (30) miles per hour speed limit on:

       Maple Street south of First Street to the city limits.

(c)   School zone speed limit on 8th Street between Elm Street and Maple Street.

       The maximum lawful speed on 8th Street between Elm Street and Maple Street on school days between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM shall be twenty (20) miles per hour, and no person shall drive a vehicle in excess of such maximum limit. The City's Chief of Police in consultation with authorized school officials may change or extend the school zone times based on school activities or safety needs, provided that such changed or extended times are designated by flashing lights marking the school zone.

When signs are erected giving notice thereof, the following streets are hereby designated as one-way streets:

(a)   Seventh Street, between Maple Street and Locust Street, going west.

Oak Street between 7th Street and 8th Street in Overbrook, Kansas, shall be closed to motor vehicle traffic EXCEPT that such roadway shall be available to the Kansas U.S.D. 434 for public school bus access, delivery vehicle access and maintenance vehicle access. Kansas U.S.D. 434 shall have access to the gates at the north and south ends of such roadway for the purpose of controlling such traffic. It shall be unlawful for such roadway to be used for the purpose of dropping off or picking up students in privately owned vehicles.
